Mitchell, a New York-based stand-up comedian who had no prior radio experience, joined the show in 2018.He became a vital member of the team after Weiss provided him the chance to hone his skills on air.
Mitchell’s weekly podcast, In the Moement, is still going strong. In his most recent podcast, which was released this week, he made no mention of his status as a Bert Show.
On September 19, he will also perform a stand-up gig at City Winery Atlanta, where he has previously served as the main act.
Over the course of 25 years, Weiss’s show has experienced change, including the controversial exits of Jeff Dauler in 2015 and David Crimmons in 2022.Others, such as Melissa Carter and Jenn Hobby, departed on their own volition.
Kristin Klingshirn, who debuted in 2011, and Abby Murphy, who arrived in 2023, are part of his current cast. Around the time Weiss started syndicating his show across the country, Cassie Young, the chief digital and marketing officer, and Tommy Owen, the show director, both joined in 2011.
Although its ratings aren’t as high as they were two years ago, the show has been a steady performer in Atlanta’s ratings for over 20 years. The Bert Show dropped from fourth place in July 2023 to seventh overall in July’s monthly Nielsen radio ratings. (The first is Chris Chandler’s news-focused morning show on WSB.)
Two years ago, the show was the most popular show among people aged 25 to 54, but now it was ranked fourth. Although its percentage of listeners in that demo decreased from 14.2 to 8.5, it continued to rank highest among women aged 25 to 54.
Twenty markets currently carry The Bert Show, including Macon, Reno, Nevada; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Charleston, South Carolina.
The Friends of Georgia Radio Hall of Fame inducted Weiss recently. The Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center will host the induction ceremony on Saturday, August 23.
