Warner Robins launches utility box art program to beautify city, showcase local talent
Georgia’s WARNER ROBINS (41NBC/WMGT) Residents in Warner Robins are being encouraged to take part in the Adopt-A-Box Utility Box Wrap Beautification Program by the city.
According to a press release, the project intends to turn ordinary utility boxes into works of public art that enhance the city’s aesthetics and foster a sense of communal pride by using specially created vinyl coverings.
Before being added to the program’s look book for sponsors to choose from, all artwork entries must first receive preapproval from the City Review Panel and adhere to program regulations.
High-resolution designs or digital artwork can be submitted by participants; these will be expertly printed and applied as wraps on specific utility boxes.
Program rules consist of:
-
All suggested artwork needs to be sent in as digital art or in high definition.
-
The finished designs must be appropriate for public display and cannot contain offensive, political, religious, nudist, or copyrighted material. Additionally, designs might not show the faces of real people.
-
The artwork should be in line with the given topic inspiration guide.
-
Every design must be unique and made by the group or artist submitting it. Submissions must not closely mimic already published works or violate any existing copyrights, trademarks, or intellectual property.
-
After the proposal is approved, utility box wrap measurements and templates will be sent.
-
An authorized vendor will take care of the installation and printing of the wraps. Physical installation is not the participants’ responsibility.
-
After it is accepted and installed, all artwork belongs to the city of Warner Robins.
-
Social media, city platforms, council recognition, and possibly local media will all be used to promote the chosen candidates.

Guidelines for using color:
The following guidelines are applicable to all wrap designs in order to keep utility cabinets from overheating and to guarantee the durability of both tools and artwork:
-
Dark colors, such as black, navy, charcoal, deep reds, or dark browns, may be used in no more than 20% of any one panel (front, back, or sides).
-
Overuse of dark hues can limit the life of the vinyl wrap and cause cabinets to absorb and retain heat, which could harm internal components.
-
Fluorescent yellow-green, orange, red, and yellow can be used as accent colors for driver safety, but they cannot be utilized as the background or dominating hue on a single panel.
