UPDATE: Second teen arrested, charged with murder in Autumn Trace Apartments shooting death


UPDATE (6/13/25):

A second suspect is now in custody in connection with a deadly shooting last week at Autumn Trace Apartments.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, 17-year-old Darrell Stanley of Macon was identified as a suspect and was taken into custody after a traffic stop performed by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office. He is now being held in the Bibb County Jail and is charged with murder.


UPDATE (6/12/25):

A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection to the death of Marcus Cunningham Jr., according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested the teen on June 11 after executing an arrest warrant at a residence in Macon. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center. He is charged with murder.

UPDATE (8:44 p.m.):

Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones identified the victim in Thursday’s shooting at Autumn Trace Apartments as 22-year-old Marcus Cunningham Jr. Jones said Cunningham was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at 8:24 p.m. by Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley.

Jones said Cunningham’s family was on the scene.

In a news release, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the complex at 1745 Rocky Creek Road just before 7:30 p.m. and found a male unresponsive inside an apartment. The sheriff’s office says no one else was injured, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.


ORIGINAL STORY (8:29 p.m.):

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A shooting was reported Thursday night at Autumn Trace Apartments on Rocky Creek Road, according to Macon-Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Jones told 41NBC he received word of the shooting and said Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley is on the way to the scene at 1745 Rocky Creek Road.
