Temperatures drop a bit to finish the week

Georgia’s MACON (41NBC/WMGT) Following a heat wave in the middle of the week, temperatures in the Middle Georgia area will return to normal by the end of the week.

The afternoon will be warm and partly sunny, and the night will be partly cloudy with the possibility of a few isolated storms in the early hours. All of Middle Georgia is at risk of severe weather, with a Level 1 Marginal threat due to the potential for a few damaging wind gusts. Light and variable breezes will accompany overnight lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

The rest of the week will be partly cloudy and comparatively hot, with highs in the lower 90s predicted for the most of the region. The south wind will be light.

Storms are more likely to occur in the latter part of the afternoon and into the evening. Due to the possibility of a few destructive wind gusts, slightly more than half of the area is currently under a Level 1 Marginal concern for severe storms.

With lows once more in the high 60s and lower 70s before Saturday morning, the forecast is for a partly overcast and humid overnight. Early on, there may be a storm or two, but by daylight, the rain should have stopped.

Both Saturday and Sunday are predicted to have partly cloudy skies, with highs of around 90 degrees (about average) and lows mostly in the lower 70s. In the afternoon and evening, over half of the area will be at risk for storms. Next week will see the continuation of this trend.
