Soggy and humid week ahead

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – For today better diurnal heating should improve the availability for instability for thunderstorms. Expect scattered thunderstorm activity Monday afternoon.

The core of any severe weather threat on Monday should hold off until later in the day. This when a shortwave remnant associated with another system over Texas, should reach Georgia. Given  that convection is just picking up in this region, a significant amount of uncertainty exists regarding the form it will take upon reaching Georgia on Monday. Convection could be more disorganized. The severe weather risk for today should peak between 4 pm and 10 pm, with damaging winds as the main threat.  High temperatures will remain in the lower to upper 80s with a few 90s in Middle Georgia through the end of the week. Overnight lows around 70.
