Rookie Drake Baldwin has 6 RBIs as Braves win 9-5 to hand Giants their 6th straight loss

Hayden Birdsong (4-4) of the Giants had a rough start and did not record an out in the first inning, giving the Braves a 5-1 lead. Baldwin cleared the bases with a three-run double after he walked the first three batters. Before he was taken out, Birdsong hit Sean Murphy and walked Ozzie Albies. Additionally, earlier in the inning, Birdsong almost hit Acu with a wild ball to Matt Olson.

After coming in, Matt Gage gave up a two-run single to Nick Allen but also struck out two.

In five innings, Bryce Elder (4-6) threw up just three runs while allowing 11 base runners on eight hits and three walks. He won for the second time in a row while leaving seven racers stranded.

Enyel De Los Santos, Rafael Montero, and Aaron Bummer pitched the final four innings, giving up two runs.

This time on the basepaths, Acu a turned up another incredible play. Acu a scored from first base after diving in just before Adames’ throw at shortstop and sprinting through a stop sign at third base on what looked to be a simple single to center field by Baldwin in the fourth inning.

Birdsong has now given up 17 walks in his last 13 innings after throwing only 6 of his 25 pitches for strikes in the first inning. He did not record an out for the first time in his 37 career outings.
