‘Nobody 2′ producer returns to Atlanta hometown: ‘We celebrate family’

Odenkirk plays Hutch Mansell in the sequel to Nobody and Nobody 2, which opens in theaters this weekend. He is an apparently mild-mannered man who turns back to his former life as an assassin when his family is threatened by criminal tycoons.

Provissiero, a producer for Nobody 2, who grew up in Marietta and attended Wheeler High School in 1985, noted that people liked seeing Saul Goodman use his words to solve problems. Wouldn’t they like seeing him use his fist to solve his problems?

He pointed out that Better Call Saul’s worldwide appeal was beneficial. Bob’s brother-in-law heard employees discussing the show while he was in a Chinese factory. That, in my opinion, benefited the first film.

Despite costing only $17 million, Nobody performed well commercially when it debuted in theaters in 2021 during the height of the pandemic, earning $57.5 million at the worldwide box office. “Universal was all for us to do a second one because it did an extraordinary number on pay per view,” Provissiero stated.

Although the sequel follows the same plot as the original film, it places Hutch and his family in Plummerville, a made-up blue-collar holiday town with an outdated amusement park similar to Valdosta’s Wild Adventures.

In fact, Provissiero pushed for Nobody 2 to be filmed in Georgia last year, but the movie was ultimately shot in Winnipeg, Canada. A park was essentially created from the ground up by production. recognizing the Wisconsin Dells, a well-liked vacation spot with water parks.

As an escape and a means of retrieving happy childhood memories from his father—played by Christopher Lloyd of Back to the Future fame, who lends his trademark wide-eyed kookiness to the part—Mansell, a workaholic, journeys to Plummerville.

Sadly, Hutch annoys the local criminal leader of that town, who is portrayed by Sharon Stone in her gloriously extravagant Cruella de Vil role.

“It’s like John Wick meets National Lampoon’s Vacation,” Provissiero added. The fact that Derek Kolstad, who authored the screenplays for both Nobody movies, also penned John Wick is no accident.

The movie includes entertaining battle scenes in a tourist duck boat, an arcade, a warehouse, a Home Alone-rigged amusement park, and an elevator. According to Provissiero, Bob got to play that on the duck boat since he enjoys Jackie Chan films. With the props at hand, it’s slapstick in an absurd situation.

Speaking to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution earlier this month, Provissiero invited friends, family, and current Wheeler students to a showing of the movie at Merchants Walk Cinema, which is two miles from his childhood home.

According to Provissiero, his collaboration with Odenkirk has been successful for over 15 years as they get along well both as coworkers and friends.

According to Odenkirk’s essay, “Marc and I share a sensibility that makes this kind of partnership in making creative work possible.” He has dedicated his professional life to mastering the intricacies of negotiating, something I am unwilling to undertake. It’s a win-win situation.

The first response to Nobody 2 has been favorable. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film gets a 92% positive rating from average viewers and an 81% positive rating from reviewers. (That’s similar to the original movie, which scored 84% and 94%, respectively.)

According to Provissiero, people want to enjoy themselves at the movies. I don’t want to hear sermons. Family and the quirks of family dynamics are celebrated.
