Man arrested after DUI chase in Jones County, deputies say

JONES COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested for leading deputies on a high-speed chase while intoxicated in Jones County, according to the sheriff’s office.

On June 14, a deputy attempted to stop a white Chevrolet Suburban that was speeding without headlights on wet roads in the dark. The driver did not stop and instead accelerated, running over curbs and turning into a dead end near Joycliff Full Basement Self Storage.

The driver, identified as Joseph Kitchens of Milledgeville, was taken into custody without further incident.

Deputies searched Kitchens’ vehicle and found a large, open—and nearly empty—bottle of Jose Cuervo. Kitchens smelled strongly of alcohol and admitted to being intoxicated, according to the sheriff’s office.

Kitchens is charged with DUI, fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, no insurance, driving with a suspended or revoked license, suspended registration, and a headlight violation.
