Macon Mental Health Matters relaunches Adverse Childhood Experiences Survey

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon Mental Health Matters says the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Survey is back for a second year. The ACEs Survey tracks the impact that traumatic childhood experiences such as death, family incarceration and abuse have on the everyday lives of adults.

Gloria Cissé is the CEO of the Southern Center for Choice Theory, which is behind Macon Mental Health Matters. Cissé says survey participants will be provided with a free, customized list of local mental health resources. She adds that the community-wide results will be used to make plans for the implementation of additional Macon Mental Health Matters programs.

“Last year, the information was good that we got,” Cissé said. “But what we hope to have happen this year is that even more people will respond to the survey. And when more people respond, we can take those numbers and we can present them to the county commission, to the mayor, and to others to help support funding.”

The survey is open now for Macon residents ages 18 or older through July 11. To take the survey, click
