Many international groups trying to deliver relief are based in the part of Gaza that is subject to the evacuation order. Regarding the evacuation warnings, the groups refrained from commenting right away.
The military would launch a fierce onslaught on insurgents, military spokesman Avichay Adraee warned. He urged locals, including those taking refuge in tents, to move to the Muwasi region, a barren tent camp on the southern coast of Gaza that has been declared a humanitarian zone by the Israeli military.
The more than two million Palestinians living in Gaza are experiencing a severe humanitarian catastrophe.
When Hamas militants invaded southern Israel on October 7, 2023, murdering around 1,200 people and took 251 hostage, they set off the 21-month conflict. Less than half are believed to be alive, although there are still fifty.
The Gaza Health Ministry reports that Israel’s subsequent military offensive has killed around 58,000 Palestinians, with more than half of the dead being women and children. The ministry does not specify the number of militants among the dead. The U.N. and other international organizations consider the ministry, which is a part of the Hamas government, to be the most trustworthy source of information on casualties.
The evacuation announcement was denounced by the Hostages Family Forum, a grassroots group that speaks for many of the hostage families. The group accused Israel of operating without a clear war plan and demanded that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli military explain their goals in the central Gaza region.
Enough! According to the forum, the majority of Israelis want the conflict to stop and a thorough deal that will return all of the captives. Tens of thousands of demonstrators marched in Tel Aviv on Saturday night as part of the weekly demonstration, calling for an end to the war.
