Hollywood Minute: Squid Game breaks records, civics gets a reboot, Phil Collins marks milestone
CNN: Squid Game, Netflix’s worldwide phenomenon, is coming to a successful conclusion. Within three days, the third and final season received a record-breaking 60.1 million views, according to the streaming behemoth, and debuted at the top of the list in all 93 countries where Netflix has a Top 10 list.
In the meantime, civic education is being updated for the present era. In his new digital series, Civics Made Easy, author Ben Sheehan is fusing political literacy with popular culture. The first episode of the series, which is currently accessible on PBS.org, the PBS app, and PBS’s YouTube page, focused on the Electoral College. New episodes will air every other Thursday throughout the summer and fall, covering subjects like filibusters, tax spending, and political fundraising.
Fans of Phil Collins have cause for celebration in the music news. In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the legendary artist’s 1985 number-one album No Jacket Required is being released. On September 12th, two new formats will be made available: a Blu-ray audio disc with stereo mixes and Dolby surround sound, and a four-LP vinyl box set including live and rare recordings along with new liner notes and photographs.
