Forsyth Police respond to false bomb threat at apartment complex

Georgia’s Fortyth (41NBC/WMGT) An anonymous 911 caller at a nearby apartment complex allegedly claimed to be armed and in possession of explosives, prompting police to evacuate a number of people early Monday morning.

A news release states that the Forsyth Police Department was called to the Forsyth Gardens Apartments, 500 Cabiness Road, at around 2:38 a.m. on June 30 after receiving a complaint of a potentially violent incident.

The caller told 911 dispatchers that he was inside the apartment, had hurt someone, had a bomb, and planned to hurt responding policemen, according to the police. Officers showed up, evacuated neighboring apartments, and surrounded the disputed apartment with a protective perimeter.

The tenants of the targeted flat were contacted by phone by the police, and they obeyed orders and left the building without incident. The residents were unharmed and oblivious to the threatening call, according to authorities.

During the investigation, no explosives or injuries were discovered.

The origin of the fictitious call is still being looked into by the Forsyth Police Department. Contact Lt. Thomas or Sgt. Jefcoats at 478-993-1005 if you have any information on the event.
