Food, fireworks and a family reunion: 28th annual Sparks Over the Park at Lake Tobesofkee underway
Georgia’s MACON (41NBC/WMGT)At the 28th Annual Sparks Over the Park celebration at Lake Tobesofkee on Friday, families and friends from all over Middle Georgia gathered to celebrate the Fourth of July.
Hundreds of people congregated near the lake, where the aromas of barbecues and music filled the air, despite the heat.
Families loved boating and swimming in addition to the meals. One family we spoke with was having a family reunion in addition to commemorating the independence of our country.
According to one family member, it’s about bringing the family together. You realize that all of this was put together in the middle of yesterday? About 30 or 40 of us got together after someone texted, “Hey, I want to hang out.” Making it happen today is all about strengthening family ties and remembering our past activities.
The Plum Tucker Band will perform live at 6:30 p.m., and at 9:15 p.m., there will be fireworks.
At 10 p.m., the park will close. Children under the age of six enter free of charge, but admission is $3 per person.
