Douglas is not the first DeKalb County jailer to be arrested and let go this year. Tony Randle crossed state/county guard lines after bringing contraband into the jail and was accused by a public official in April with violating his oath of duty.

Deputy Joann Marks was arrested and discharged from the DeKalb jail last year after it was alleged that she had an inappropriate contact with an inmate.

Marks was charged in November with two counts of breach of oath of public office, one crime of first-degree sexual contact by an employee, and one offense of supplying materials that prisoners were not allowed to possess.

Marks acknowledged giving the convict the things and having sex with him.

Cesary Wilbron, a former jailer, entered a guilty plea to using excessive force against inmates in 2023 after repeatedly punching two convicts in the face. He received a 10-year sentence that included one year in the Probation Detention Center.
