Current pattern will continue through Father’s Day Weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Partly to mostly cloudy days with isolated to scattered afternoon storms are likely over Father’s Day Weekend in Middle Georgia.

Isolated storms will be ongoing heading into the overnight hours. Activity should taper off between 2-4 pm, leaving mostly cloudy and muggy conditions leading to Saturday morning. Fog is likely due to the calm conditions as well. Lows will largely hover around the 70 degree mark as wind stays light from the south.

A mix of sun and clouds are expected through the morning and lunchtime hours before more clouds arrive with storms in the late afternoon and evening. No organized severe weather is expected, however the most mature storms could bring a couple of damaging downburst winds. Highs will push into the upper 80s and lower 90s with real feels into the mid to upper 90s. Wind will flow from the south-southwest at around 5 mph.

Overnight a few storms will linger before fading out ahead of sunrise on Sunday. Expect lows around 70 degrees and some fog as the wind stays gentle from the south.

While storms will remain possible Sunday and into next week, the overall trend seems to be dropping in regards to rain odds. That said, expect the mugginess to continue and highs to start reaching into the 90s more frequently. Heat indexes into the triple digits will also become more widespread next week. Anyone planning to grill should plan for the possibility of afternoon storms on Sunday, however, as close to half the region is still anticipated to see some activity.
