Cochran launches downtown revitalization to boost safety and attract business
Georgia’s COCHRAN (41NBC/WMGT) As the city begins a downtown rehabilitation project aimed at increasing safety, charm, and business, Cochran’s 2nd Street is expected to undergo significant upgrades.
In order to revitalize the region, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is collaborating with nearby companies to include elements like improved lighting and plants everywhere.
The objective, according to DDA Director Ken Land, is to make downtown more welcoming to all.
According to Land, we want to help light it up more so that people feel safe and that they can enjoy themselves without worrying while they’re here.
Businesses already participating include Snow’s Asian Grill and The Warehouse.
According to Mi Waters, co-owner of Snow’s Asian Grill, we have painted the building’s outside. After receiving a facade, we were able to install a canopy. We have a large window, which we love to decorate each month to maintain it tidy and welcoming to visitors.
According to Robert Fordham, co-owner of The Warehouse, initiatives such as these will assist draw locals and visitors to downtown.
He stated that they are seeking an experience-based relationship. In Cochran, we’re not really a tourist destination, but we have a lot to offer, hometown fun, hometown folks. That comes from your more individualized mom and pop restaurant establishments, these kinds of things.
Land has advice for small business owners as well.
“We want to see that vision come to fruition, even though we are a small town with a much larger vision,” he said. Therefore, business owners, please come if you’re looking for a site.
