Cochran hosting family-friendly events this summer

COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The city of Cochran is hosting multiple family-friendly events this summer.

Melissa Barker, president and CEO of the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce, said the events are open to the public.

Bleckley Bullseye

The Bleckley Bullseye is a shop-local initiative organized by the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Development Authority. It’s designed to promote community engagement and support local businesses in Bleckley County.

Shoppers can participate from June 16 to July 31. Bullseye cards must be returned to the City Auditorium Office Complex by July 31 at 4:30 p.m. Participants must present a minimum of five stickers from participating businesses to enter. There is no limit to how many times a person can enter.

The winner will be announced Aug. 1 and will receive $2,500 in gift certificates and “Bleckley Bucks.”

Fourth of July Independence Day Celebration

Cochran and Bleckley County’s Fourth of July Independence Day Celebration will take place Friday, July 4, beginning at 6 p.m. outside the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce office at 102 N. Second St.

The free, family-friendly event will feature food trucks, inflatables, games and activities for all ages. A glow run and walk is scheduled to begin around 7 p.m., followed by a fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Local vendors, especially Chamber members, will be on-site with food and treats. Supplies are limited, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early. Guests are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Parking will be available throughout the area.

Second Saturday

Second Saturday in Cochran is a monthly community event hosted by the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce. It features live music, food trucks and family-friendly fun on the lawn of the Bleckley County Courthouse at 102 N. Second St.

The Chamber promotes the event as a free, open-to-the-public way to support area businesses, enjoy local entertainment and connect with neighbors in downtown Cochran’s historic courthouse square.
