Georgia’s Fort Valley (41NBC/WMGT) The athletic department of Fort Valley State University announced on Friday that Brandon Britt has been appointed as the new head coach of the men’s basketball team.
Britt comes to FVSU from Edward Waters University, where he was co-recruiting coordinator and assistant men’s basketball coach.
Britt oversaw the top camps at EWU and created a training regimen that enhanced his athletes’ technical proficiency and athletic performance, citing a press release from FVSU Athletics.
His recruiting efforts enabled EWU to achieve significant milestones, including as a team GPA of 3.4, its first victory over Sunshine State Conference schools, and its first NCAA Division II winning season.
Our goal at Fort Valley State is perfectly aligned with Coach Britt’s reputation for creating successful programs while being steadfastly dedicated to his players’ academic and personal development. Daphnie Johnson, director of athletics, stated. We look forward to his leadership, discipline, and enthusiasm for Wildcat Nation.
Britt coached Western Kentucky High School’s boys basketball team from 2018 to 2023 prior to joining EWU. With an overall record of 83-56, he transformed a squad that had gone 4-22 the season before into a contender. The team achieved a school record with 23 wins in a single season, advanced to No. 2 in the state rankings in 2022, and made it to the regional tournament for the first time in a decade under Britt’s direction.
According to FVSU, Britt also secured the best rating in Kentucky in 2019 by leading a 14U boys AAU team to a 58-4 record. As an assistant at Indiana University Southeast, where the team won a conference championship and qualified for the NAIA national tournament, he began his collegiate coaching career. While there, he assisted in mentoring four NAIA All-Americans.
After graduating from Indiana University Southeast in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, Britt went on to the University of the Cumberlands to receive a master’s degree in teaching.
