Authorities revealed they had detained Overstreet in connection with the murder last week, precisely seven months after it occurred. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said he was discovered at an apartment on Flat Shoals Road in Union City. According to the sheriff’s office, the 42-year-old was hurt by a shattered window when DeKalb deputies were making the arrest with the help of South Fulton police and U.S. Marshals.

According to a statement from spokesperson Cynthia Williams, Overstreet was subsequently taken to the DeKalb County Jail without any problems.

Among the many counts against him is murder.

According to internet records, Overstreet is being held without bond. His lawyer submitted a motion to establish bond on Tuesday. An AJC request for comment was not immediately answered by his lawyer.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution got the warrant, which states that Overstreet is accused of shooting Culver between 5:30 and 5:30 a.m. at a residence in the 4000 block of Boulder Springs Cove, close to Ellenwood. Officials claim that Overstreet was engaged in two prior domestic confrontations at this residence.

According to officials, he and Culver’s girlfriend, who resides at the house, had a child together. The woman told authorities that Overstreet had questioned her about Culver’s presence at the house prior to the deadly gunshot. According to the warrant, she then heard a pop and witnessed Overstreet roll the body in a rug before bringing it to a vehicle.

According to his warrants, Overstreet was charged with grabbing his child’s mother by the neck and pushing her during a fight at the same Boulder Springs Cove residence on November 26, less than a month prior. According to a different warrant, he allegedly entered that house illegally in late October with a black rifle and threatened to beat a woman who was once more named as the mother of his child because she didn’t want to be with him.

According to deputies, he is charged with battery-family violence for the November incident and simple assault-family violence for the October one. The warrants did not include the woman’s name, and DeKalb police did not answer the AJC’s inquiries. According to the warrants, the two had previously shared a residence.

The DeKalb Sheriff’s Office reports that Overstreet also has active warrants in Fulton County for aggravated assault, armed robbery, murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a knife or firearm while committing or attempting to commit specific crimes.

A representative for the Fulton sheriff’s office directed inquiries about those allegations to East Point police, who did not reply.
