“Very awesome,” Southisene remarked of her membership in the group. I simply can’t express how thrilled I am about the chance.
Southisene was regarded as the 43rd best prospect in the class by Baseball America. The right-handed hitter weights 170 pounds and stands 5 feet 11 inches tall.
According to reports, Southisene signed a contract with the Braves for $2.62 million, which is more than $1.3 million less than his slot value.
It truly caught our attention because (Southisene) is a fantastic athlete with twitch, looseness, and explosiveness to the swing. Ronit Shahsaid, vice president of amateur scouting for the Braves, said on Sunday. We appreciate the flexibility he plays with, especially in the batter’s box, even though his methods are a touch unconventional.
Ty, Southisene’s brother, was selected by the Cubs in the fourth round last summer and currently plays for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. This past season, Tee, another brother, was a Southern California freshman pitcher.
If Southisene hadn’t signed with the Braves, he would have gone to USC.
Regarding the decision between college and professional ball, Southisene remarked, “I think it was last year just watching my brother go through it and then just being able to see what he’s done and being able to follow what he’s done and be able to use it.” When I spoke with the USC coaches, they seemed to have some prior knowledge. I knew the Braves were a wonderful fit for me since they are a great organization.
According to Southisene, he has been in Nevada since Sunday’s draft and before traveling to Atlanta to watch the Braves play the Yankees. On Sunday, he intends to travel to the Braves training facility in North Port, Florida.
