According to officials, Hillman passed away despite receiving treatment from emergency personnel on the spot. Wilson is from Cambria Heights, New York, and he was from Plum, Pennsylvania.
According to court documents, Wilson was charged with premeditated murder last month. He was charged on Wednesday, the same day that authorities reported 28-year-old Sgt. Quornelius Radford wounded five troops when he opened fire at the base using his own firearm. It is anticipated that all of those victims will live.
Lockdowns were imposed on the base and two counties’ public schools. Two of the sufferers were moved to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah for further care, and three of them needed surgery.
According to online documents, Wilson agreed to pretrial detention on Wednesday, renouncing his right to a detention hearing. He is being held pending trial after being remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
In 2020, another violent event occurred at Fort Stewart when a former Army sergeant killed a fellow soldier by stabbing him.
On June 17, Byron Booker drove to the base from his residence, according to his indictment. He went on foot to Spec. Austin Hawk’s barracks, where he entered the room using a key card that co-defendant Jordan Brown had given him, according to officials. According to the accusation, after leaving the scene, Booker threw away his shoes and clothing.
A medical examiner reported that Hawk sustained 40 stab or slash wounds. The next day, his body was discovered in the barracks.
According to officials, Hawk had previously reported Booker for bad military performance, poor leadership, and mistreatment of subordinates, and Brown for drug usage.
Booker pleaded guilty to premeditated murder of a member of the U.S. military services in 2023 and was given a life sentence.
