The purported threat was the most recent in a series of comparable offenses committed by Georgians, as well as local officials and politicians.
A guy from Roswell was given a sentence of almost two years in federal prison in July for threatening to harm Christopher Wray, the former director of the FBI. In another case last month, federal authorities claimed a Maryland man was arrested on suspicion of making threatening calls to Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s offices in Georgia.
A federal grand jury in June indicted a 25-year-old man from Duluth on charges of threatening sexual assault against U.S. Sens. Deb Fischer (R-Nebraska) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in voicemails.
Robert Donovan, a deputy special agent in the Atlanta office, stated in a statement that the US Secret Service takes threats against a protectee very seriously. Every threat will be looked into, and if necessary, those who make threats will face the harshest legal penalties possible.
According to police, Porter participated in a TikTok video on July 26 in the most recent threat case. Putting a bullet in Trump’s eyes is the only way to make America great, according to Porter’s reported statement during the event.
Investigators said he made other statements as well.
“I’m going to kill Donald Trump,” Porter is charged with saying. A 7.62 bullet will be inserted into his forehead by me.
I’m going to watch him bleed out and I’m going to see him die, according to another purported statement. I will do that.
Investigators stated that after making the threats, Porter allegedly vowed to kill federal agents who knocked on his door.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, during inspections of Porter’s apartment, Secret Service agents, Floyd County police officers, and state of Georgia probation officers discovered two pipes, handgun ammunition, and Tannerite, an explosive.
Porter’s past crimes include domestic violence, drug possession, battery, influencing a witness, mutiny in a correctional facility, terroristic threats, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He’s on probation right now. According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, he worked at the Coffee Correctional Facility in Nicholls from November 2018 to May 2022.
