Zack Wheeler, the starting pitcher for the Phillies, pitched six innings and gave up two earned runs on seven hits while striking out ten. Max Lazar (1-0), Matt Strahm, Orion Kerkering, and Tanner Banks all pitched scoreless innings. It was Lazar’s first big league victory.
In the fourth inning, the Phillies scored twice. Nick Castellanos advanced to second on a passed ball, doubled, and then scored on a single by J.T. Realmuto after Bryce Harper doubled.
Jarren Duran opened the game with his sixth Boston home run of the year. Trevor Story’s RBI single in the sixth inning tied the score at two.
Walker Buehler of Boston pitched seven innings, giving up two earned runs and six hits.
