Whitley has almost 30 years of experience in the comedy industry. She plays Bessie, a member of Happy’s alcohol recovery group in this movie. Hal (Ben Stiller), who was a crazy orderly in the previous film, is the organization’s sadistic leader.
In an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution at the Buckhead Waldorf Astoria, Whitley stated, “There were times when I felt like I was watching the scene rather than being in it.” Ben is insane. Adam is insane. Maintaining a straight face is difficult. There were times when I held my head down.
She also mentioned that I wanted to make Adam chuckle in a scene. He’s difficult to break, though. He manages to remain true to himself.
Sandler made sure that everyone felt included, which is why the set itself was laid back, she said.
You could always approach Adam or the director, Kyle Newacheck, and say, “I had an idea.” What if we take this action? Whitley uttered those words. They make the work enjoyable. As a creator, you never feel constrained.

In a world without prestreaming, Happy Gilmore 2 would have been available in theaters, but Sandler has developed a close relationship with Netflix over the course of more than ten years, releasing over a dozen films on the streaming service. In this instance, Netflix provided him with a sizable budget to guarantee that the sequel was brimming with outrageous star power and visual impact.

Since the 1990s, Whitley has been able to find steady employment. Her IMDb website lists 138 acting credits, including roles in Atlanta-based shows including BET’s Let’s Stay Together and Bounce TV’s Act Your Age, as well as roles in Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Neighborhood, Fuller House, and Black Dynamite.
She played a small farmer in his 2020 Netflix comedy Hubie Halloween, which introduced her to the Sandler Universe.
