Celestin is prohibited from using drugs, alcohol, and guns as part of the bond requirements. His lawyer refrained from commenting on the accusations.
All four of the recruits involved in the brawl were standing outside the bar after two of them were expelled, according to an incident report that The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was able to get through an open records request. Police stated in the report that they appeared to be very drunk.
Celestin attempted to rejoin by claiming to be a military officer and an officer with the Atlanta Police Department.
He walked to his car after being turned away. Deputies on the scene reported that Celestin took out a gun and fired two rounds into the air after he got into his automobile.
According to the incident report, Celestin slowed down in front of the pub and fired three more bullets into the air as he started to drive away. After pursuing him onto I-285, one of the cops lost sight and went back to the bar.
According to the complaint, the three other recruits—Schnieder Predestin, Justin Roberson, and Tristian Dunrod—stayed outside the bar and reprimanded East Point Police Department personnel.
At first, Roberson refused to give over his identification and warned Predestin to stop talking since his sister is a sergeant with the Atlanta Police Department. The report states that Predestin acted aggressively, as if he wanted to fight, and told police not to touch his brother after Roberson approached a patrol car and was told to back off.
According to the report, officers placed Roberson in the back of a patrol car after he appeared to want to fight Predestin during one of the interactions and Dunrod attempted to intervene to break it up.
After that, he informed the officers that they were all APD recruits who would graduate in a week and a half. Predestin reportedly stated that he was unaware of the identity of the gunman or even that gunfire had occurred.
Officers from East Point gathered five 9 mm round casings from the site. When asked where the fired bullets landed, East Point police did not immediately answer.
To handle the recruits, an APD captain showed up on the scene. All four trainees were separated due to off-duty behavior that did not fit our agency’s standards, according to Atlanta police, who confirmed the event earlier this week.
Several of the recruits who were involved in the brawl were from the July 8 class, while others were from the subsequent class, according to a spokeswoman.
