A hot July 4th in store for Middle Georgia
MACON, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) Today, a trough is predicted to dump into the Atlantic as it moves across New England. An upper level front within that system is noteworthy and will play a significant role in the formation of a possible tropical low during the weekend. This system’s primary effects will maintain the stability of our current atmosphere. The surface is devoid of moisture.Storm chances are still limited to areas of eastern Middle Georgia where there is higher surface moisture, while some isolated thunderstorms may occur later today in some areas of Central Georgia. The area will have highs in the lower to mid-90s on the 4th, which is a few degrees over normal. Throughout the metro, morning lows on the 4th will be in the lower 70s. After sunset, temperatures will drop, reaching the lower 80s by 9 p.m. in both north and central Georgia. By then, most, if not all, of the afternoon storms in Middle Georgia should have ended or be tapering down, and the skies should be largely clear.
