Rep. Austin Scott applauds final passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act
Georgia’s MACON (41NBC/WMGT) Following the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act’s ultimate passing in the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Representative Austin Scott (R-Ga.) expressed his strong support for the legislation, calling it a significant victory for Georgia farmers, small business owners, and taxpayers.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Scott stated, “With my support, the House of Representatives just sent the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act to President Trump’s desk.” Farmers, small companies, middle-class families, and workers all benefit from this legislation’s historic tax breaks.
Scott highlights tax relief and business support
According to Scott, the law keeps the typical Georgia taxpayer’s taxes from rising by 24%. Additionally, the law doubles small business expenses, which he claimed would enable local companies to expand and add more staff.
According to Scott, the law offers significant relief for American farmers by including new agricultural protections, such as the first reference price hikes for farmers since 2014.
“I am happy that we were able to work quickly to ensure that Congress and President Trump can get much-needed relief to America’s farmers, veterans, and taxpayers,” he added, highlighting the bill’s effects on veterans and taxpayers.
Scott also commended the law for eliminating what he described as Democrats’ radical green handouts, which included the elimination or decrease of tax incentives linked to green energy.
To become law, the bill must now be signed by President Trump.
Georgia Democrats respond to bill passing
Georgia Democrats caution that the bill will seriously impair the state’s clean energy jobs, rural hospitals, and healthcare system.
The Democratic Party of Georgia claims that the legislation’s $900 billion in Medicaid cuts could cause 750,000 Georgians to lose their health insurance and put the state’s rural hospitals’ continued existence in even greater danger. Democrats also contend that the plan jeopardizes the state’s recently expanding clean energy manufacturing industry.
During the 2026 election season, the Georgia Democratic Party announced it intends to emphasize Republican support for the law.
Devon Cruz, a senior communications advisor for the Republican Party, stated that the Senate candidates have made it clear to every Georgian where they are on their list of priorities: dead last. Between now and November of next year, we will ensure that every Georgian is aware that these candidates prioritized cutting taxes for billionaires over defending their access to affordable healthcare, bolstering their rural hospitals, and defending their economy and jobs.
