Macon Bacon set to host Coastal Plain League All-Star Weekend at Historic Luther Williams Field

Georgia’s MACON (41NBC/WMGT) The Macon Bacon are hosting the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game at historic Luther Williams Field, where they have played for the last eight seasons, for the first time in the team’s history.

Owner and team president Brandon Raphael discussed the significance of the event for the city and the organization as the celebrations begin this weekend.

When the league has requested us to host the All-Star Game in the past, we have always responded, “Not this year,” Raphael said. However, when the new owners took over, we said, “Yes, of course.” There is no greater time frame than the present.

According to Raphael, the All-Star weekend presents a special chance to highlight the Bacon organization and its lively game-day vibe in addition to the city of Macon.

To tell the truth, I consider it an honor,” Raphael remarked. Having the chance to host the All-Star Game at any level in any league is a truly inspiring event. Our fans will be able to witness our regular activities, but many others from out of town will be coming to the ballpark to watch the Macon Bacon.

There will be a ton of activities for players and fans throughout the weekend. Raphael explained the itinerary, which starts with a special Fan Fest on Sunday so scouts may assess the players. A skills competition, a home run derby, and player signing sessions kick off the public portion at 6 p.m.

There will be a variety of enjoyable activities, and we’ll also have some entertainment, Raphael stated. Naturally, we’re looking forward to Monday’s actual All-Star Game. It will appear to be a typical game day. The gates will open at six o’clock. All the exciting events, including an All-Star Game, will culminate in spectacular fireworks.

Raphael claims that the event is significant for players pursuing their baseball aspirations in addition to being enjoyable.

He replied, “It’s really for the guys.” They’re not just coming here to unwind and watch an All-Star Game. They have the chance to demonstrate their abilities in front of twenty-five or thirty scouts. For them, there is something unique.

Raphael also discussed the game’s wider effects on the city.

He stated that they would be dining at our restaurants in addition to seeing the ballpark. They will be staying in our hotels and visiting our tourist attractions, which benefits everyone.

Raphael stated that the experience will be particularly significant for those local athletes, as pitcher Kai Decker and first baseman Billy Ham, both Bacon players, were selected to the Western Division All-Star squad.

He stated that inviting their loved ones to attend an All-Star Game is the next step after winning a championship for some of these players who either played high school or are currently enrolled in college.

Last season, Cummins left-handed pitcher Andrew Elkhill was chosen for the All-Star team.

“Man,” Elkhill remarked, “it’s such an honor.” Given our quality and the kind of players you play with and against, it is a true privilege to be selected as an All-Star and be able to play in that game. I believe it is especially significant to do it for Macon. I think it’s quite cool because I grew up in Georgia.

Luther Williams Field will host the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game festivities starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday and ending late on Monday.
