GOP scrambles to pass Trump s budget bill ahead of deadline

Republican leaders are praising the plan as a huge victory since it extends trillions of dollars in tax advantages and includes significant spending cuts. Additionally, it allots billions for Trump’s border wall and the detention of immigrants. Democrats, however, contend that the law goes too far. Citing studies that demonstrate the wealthiest Americans would gain the most from the tax breaks, they oppose cuts to food stamps and Medicaid.
Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries stated, “We just need four Republicans to stand with us and defend the healthcare of the American people.”
