City of Perry to host family-friendly Independence Day event

Georgia’s MACON (41NBC/WMGT) On July 4, starting at 7 p.m., the City of Perry will celebrate Independence Day in its historic downtown.

Live music, food vendors, and a fireworks show that starts at approximately 9:20 p.m. are all part of the celebration. Middle Georgia Jellyball, balloon art, and face painting are among the free activities offered. It is recommended that attendees bring blankets and lawn chairs.

Several downtown streets, including Carroll Street, Jernigan Street, Ball Street, and a portion of Main Street, will be blocked for the event. Participants are urged to arrive early, and parking is available in public lots. There will be designated parking for those with disabilities at the junction of Main Street and Ball Street. on order to prevent getting towed, officials are cautioning attendees not to park on private or business lots.

Although officials warn that animals may react to the loudness from the explosions, leashed canines are permitted at the event.

The public is welcome to attend the free event. In the event of bad weather or other unanticipated events, it can be canceled.
