Crankin up the heat for the first weekend of summer

Georgia’s MACON (41NBC/WMGT) Over the weekend, heat indices will reach triple digits as temperatures rise into the mid to upper 90s.

This Evening

Middle Georgia is experiencing another warm afternoon. Although there is little chance of rain this evening, a storm or a few showers are still possible. Because yesterday’s cold front was feeble, it will be a little colder tonight. There will be a little northerly wind with lows in the high 60s and lower 70s.

Tomorrow

With highs in the mid- to upper-90s on Saturday afternoon, the heat will increase much more. The heat index will be close to 100 degrees. The skies will be largely sunny, and the wind will be mild and variable. Rain is mostly not anticipated on Saturday afternoon or evening, while a stray shower cannot be completely ruled out. Anyone spending time outside will need sunscreen because the UV Index is expected to be between 10 and 11.

With lows in the mid 60s and lower 70s, the night will be largely clear. Patchy fog is possible, and there will be mild southeast winds. It is not predicted to rain.

Sunday and Beyond

Over the latter part of the weekend and into the next workweek, the temperature will continue to rise. Rain odds will mostly be put on the back burner, and skies should be full of sunshine. Heat indexes over the last week will give way to actual high temperatures by mid-next week. Heat indices will likely surpass 100 degrees next week, and heat advisories may be issued for middle Georgia.
