HOUSTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two people were arrested Friday morning on Interstate 75 in Houston County after a deputy reported finding marijuana, THC wax and vape cartridges during a traffic stop, according to a news release from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

The stop happened around 9:56 a.m. near mile marker 138, when a deputy pulled over a 2024 Range Rover traveling southbound for following too closely, the release said.

The driver was identified as 35-year-old Claudia Mendez Saldana of Sanford, Florida, and the passenger was 35-year-old Fernando Espinoza of Pueblo, Colorado.

The deputy obtained consent to search the vehicle and reported finding six large vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana, a smaller bag with 23 THC vape cartridges, a large bag with approximately four pounds of THC wax, another large bag with more than two pounds of pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, and $1,100 in cash, according to the release.
