Macon-Bibb polling location moved for Rutland 2 voters after pipe burst at church

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Voters in the Rutland 2 precinct will have a new polling location for the upcoming election due to a burst pipe at Porterfield Baptist Church.

In a

notice issued Thursday by the Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections



, the board said the emergency forced officials to temporarily move voting for Rutland 2 to Mikado Baptist Church, located at 6751 Houston Road in Macon. The original polling place at Porterfield Baptist Church is at 2910 Allen Road.

Chris Floore, Chief Communications Officer for Macon-Bibb County, told 41NBC the emergency was caused by a burst pipe at the church.

The change will be in effect for the Special Primary Election for the Public Service Commission District races on Tuesday, June 17. If a runoff is needed, the temporary location will also be used on Tuesday, July 15.

According to the Board of Elections, the move is being made in accordance with Georgia law under

O.C.G.A. § 21-2-265

Early voting continues



at the Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections and the Elaine Lucas Senior Center from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The primary also includes two Saturdays of early voting (June 7 and June 14) at both locations, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
