MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An afternoon with heat indexes in the mid to upper 90s will see scattered storms around Middle Georgia through the evening and into the night.

Storms will become more numerous around Middle Georgia as the evening progresses. Many storms may linger past midnight. A Level 1 “Marginal” risk for severe weather includes the entire region. While nothing organized is expected, heavy downbursts of rain with the heaviest storms could bring a couple of damaging wind gusts.

Aside from rain it will be a muggy night under partly cloudy skies. Lows will hover around 70 degrees with light wind flowing from the south. Fog will be possible.

A bit more cloud cover is likely Saturday before storms fire off in the afternoon. Sunday should see a bit more sunshine for anyone grilling for Father’s Day. Isolated storm chances will persist into next week, however the overall trend looks like it may decrease during that timespan as well.
