Macon man sentenced to 20 years in Houston County
HOUSTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon man is sentenced in Houston County, after he pleaded guilty to Violation of the RICO Act and Trafficking Cocaine.
According to Houston County District Attorney Eric Edwards, 57-year-old Joseph Rainey III was sentenced to 20 years, with the first 10 years to be served in the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was also fined $200,000.
According to DA Edwards, an investigation between May and August of 2023 revealed Rainey was distributing methamphetamine and cocaine, while also “cooking” crack-cocaine. He says Rainey conducted drug transactions in both Houston and Bibb Counties.
The investigation led to 25 arrests.
COMMENTS FROM DA EDWARDS:
“Large-scale trafficking operations don’t just bring drugs into our community—they bring violence, exploitation, and fear. This sentence sends a clear message that we will not allow organized drug networks to take root in Houston County.”
