GDC confirms inmate death at Wilcox State Prison

WILCOX COUNTY, Georgia – An inmate died at Wilcox State Prison on Sunday, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

The inmate, identified as Dominique Cole, died on June 8.

According to the GDC, the body was turned over to the county coroner and will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab to determine the official cause of death. The case is under active investigation.

Cole was serving a 10-year sentence for aggravated assault out of Floyd County, with a maximum release date of August 2025.
