Kroger baggers compete in Macon for shot at state championship
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If you’ve never seen a Kroger Bag-Off Competition, we’ll you’ve definitely missing out.
Kroger employees from across Middle Georgia faced off in a fast-paced showdown Wednesday during the district Bag-Off competition at the Bridge Pointe Kroger in Macon.
The Ready, Set, Bag event brought together grocery baggers from stores as far as Griffin and McDonough. Judges graded baggers’ skills on speed, friendliness, even bag weight distribution, overall style and bag appearance.
According to Kroger, the district winner is Angela Marie Cota. She works at the Griffin Kroger, located at 1534 Hwy 16 W.
Each of the 12 districts in Kroger’s Atlanta division is hosting its own Bag-Off to decide who advances to the state championship in Atlanta on June 19. The winner of that round will head to Orlando, Florida, to represent Georgia at the Georgia Food Industry Association Convention in July.
Each contender spends at least 40 percent of their work time bagging groceries for customers.
