In June, Yellow Mushroom in the Commerce Square shopping center unexpectedly closed in downtown Decatur. Co-owner Harvey Brown at the time pointed to local competition and financial difficulties. Although it did not provide a certain date, the Atlanta-based pizza restaurant said on Friday that the Decatur facility would return this fall with improvements to the façade, interior, and technology. According to the company, the terrace and bar will be renovated, and a new takeout window will be added.

Well-known Atlanta chef opening resort restaurant

Former Federal and Shaun’s executive chef and founder of Bantam + Biddy, Shaun Doty, will build a dinner-only restaurant named Julies at Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, North Georgia. Doty, who formerly worked at the Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead while chef Gunter Seeger oversaw the kitchen, is making a comeback to the hotel industry with the new restaurant, which is expected to open later this summer.

According to a resort news release, Jules was inspired after Julia Barnsley, the daughter of the original estate owner. The restaurant will go well with Woodlands and the recently built Biergarten, the other dining options on the property.
